“My ERP already gives me the reports”

By Santiago Viglione

It's the most honest objection we hear, and it's often true. Odoo, Holded, Tango or Business Central produce a correct P&L and balance sheet for each entity. If you have a single company and a single system, you probably don't need anything else.

The ERP is built to record one company's operations. And it does that very well. The problem starts when the question stops being about one company and becomes about the group.

What the ERP isn't designed to do

  • Look at several entities at once, especially if each one has its own system or its own chart of accounts.
  • Report in two currencies natively, with the detail of each.
  • Build the P&L the way management reads it, with the levels you need rather than those of the chart of accounts.
  • Plan: budget by department, cash forecast and variances against actuals.
  • Answer a new question quickly without asking the ERP consultant for a custom report.

That's why, in many groups, the ERP report ends up exported to Excel. And we're back to square one: the number that reaches management was put together by hand.

Fibady doesn't replace the ERP

It connects to it. Each entity keeps working in its own system, with nothing to migrate. Fibady takes each one's accounting, classifies it once and gives you the consolidation, the entity detail and planning in one place, kept up to date.

We have API connectors for many ERPs and, if yours doesn't have one, we start with a general ledger export. Which one do you use?
