CFOnomic is Pablo Prado Marrón's outsourced finance direction firm. From Jerez de la Frontera it works with SMEs across Spain, mostly industrial and project-based, with revenue above 2 million euros and a wish to grow by making money, not just by billing more.

## What does CFOnomic do?

Pablo joins the company as a part-time finance director and builds a planning and control system with the accounting and administration team:

- **Monthly close.** Financial and cost accounting up to date every month.
- **Margins.** Which business lines, products, projects and customers make money.
- **Budget and business plan.** How the company is doing against plan, so it can correct in time.
- **Cash forecast.** How much comes in, how much goes out and how much will be left in the coming months.
- **Financing.** The information banks and investors ask for.

## Who is behind CFOnomic?

Pablo Prado Marrón has more than ten years in finance at large companies: auditor at PwC, controller at Schindler, FP&A analyst at Técnicas Reunidas and finance and controlling manager at a Thyssenkrupp subsidiary. In 2024 he left the multinational and founded CFOnomic to bring that control to SMEs. His projects include a programme with the Cádiz business confederation to roll out his business control systems at SMEs in the province.

## What is an SME missing when it grows without a finance director?

What CFOnomic describes is common at an industrial or project-based SME: orders live in a spreadsheet, invoices in the ERP, cash in the bank and margins in another sheet that does not tie to the rest. The company bills more every year and does not know what it makes money on.

Putting it in order does not require a finance department. It requires three things every month: a reliable close, margins by line and a cash forecast.

## How does Fibady help build that control?

- **Monthly close.** P&L, balance sheet and cash flow from the ERP, with a check that flags which month does not tie.
- **Margins by line.** P&L by cost centre or business line, from the analytical accounts.
- **Budget vs. actual.** [Budgets](/product/budgeting) by area with their variances.
- **Cash several months ahead.** [Cash flow forecasting](/product/cash-flow-forecasting) with collections, payments and credit lines.
- **ERP connection.** API with [Odoo](/integrations/odoo) and [Holded](/integrations/holded); everything else through the general journal in Excel.

## CFOnomic and Fibady

Pablo has used Fibady in his work as a fractional CFO, and his judgement has helped sharpen the product: his feedback has led to improvements in forecasts, metrics and dashboards. If you also run finance for several SMEs, see [Fibady for fractional CFOs and advisors](/solutions/fractional-cfo-and-advisors).

## Frequently asked questions

### What is a fractional CFO?

A finance director who works for the company part-time, without being on the payroll. They take care of the monthly close, margins, the budget, the cash forecast and the relationship with banks and investors. Also called an outsourced or external CFO.

### When does a fractional CFO make sense for an SME?

When the company has grown enough to need financial control, but not enough to hire a full-time finance director. CFOnomic, for example, works with established SMEs with revenue above 2 million euros.

### Does Fibady connect to Holded and Odoo?

Yes, through an API. Fibady reads the books from Holded and Odoo and produces the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow of each entity and of the group. Other software connects by exporting the general journal to Excel or CSV.

### Does Fibady work with fractional CFOs?

Yes. There is a partner programme for fractional CFOs and advisory firms: they run all their clients on the same reporting structure and earn 20% of what those clients pay Fibady.
